While Kurt Greenbaum at first came across as an anal-retentive nitpicker when it came to profanity, we are now seeing he is more of a hypocrite than anything else.
Aren’t all snitches hypocrites?
On September 17, two months before he got a man fired for writing the word pussy on his blog, Greenbaum posted the above video titled “Yes, bloggers, we can laugh at ourselves” with the following warning:
“Some language isn’t for little ears.”
The video is a spoof created by a couple of his buddies, one who works at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and another who got smart and left the Post-Dispatch and is now a blogger/journalist in Kenya.
Perhaps Greenbaum might have to join him in Africa to get away from this debacle. But I’m sure somebody out there already knows of his journalistic breakdown.
The video is funny and might even be funnier if you knew the guys in the video who are bragging about their blog and order us to “shut the fuck up” and to “take a good, hard look at my motherfucking blog.”
I believe motherfucking is more hardcore than pussy. Motherfucking just sounds harder. And it’s not a good visual either.
Pussy, on the other hand, has a much softer sound. It’s almost poetic. And it’s visually appealing.
But obviously not to Greenbaum.

@Kurt Greenbum above, really, it’s these types of trolls that put the real Greenbaum into Nuclear mode to being with.
Not saying the “pussy” jokester, was a troll. Not at all. But Greenbaum obviously snapped after putting up with this for so long. Still doesn’t defend his actions, but I think it’s ironic a “Kurt Greenbum” troll is posting here.
Gotta love Twitter and Google.
About the video, don’t forget the use of the words fucker, fag, shit and suck and the reference to Larry Flint. Not to mention the subjective racial overtones of the two “white rappers”.
Sadly I can’t see the video (blocked out here) but it is going to be fun reading the play by play of this guys career imploding into absolute nothingness.
In the long chance that the real Kurt Greenbaum might comment on this blog, I will continue to delete comments made by fake Kurt Greenbaums. Or Greenbums for that matter.
I’m a troll? In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community…
This is most certainly topical and relevant. Inflammatory means, “rousing to action.” Is change not what is desired? Contoversial? How can I be controversial when you and the world consensus are against Kurt Greenbaum?
Just like Apple has the fake Steve Jobs, the Post-Dispatch has the fake Kurt Greenbaum. I am Kurt Greenbum, his alter ego.
In defense of Kurt Greenbaum, although the video contained many vile words, it was placed on his personal web page as opposed to http://stltoday.com.
So I must ask some questions since you maintain so much interest in my alter-ego.
What cord have I struck within you and do you feel it has been affected by the unfair treatment you received from the police and the court?
And just what is it that you want from me? An apology? My resignation? Why?
Regards,
KB
I’m not even sure I’d give long odds to Greenbaum posting here, Carlos.
Not sure what Carlos wants. I know what I want. Apology, resignation and, most important, help the poor guy you victimized get his job back.
Why? If you have to ask that question, then you’ve already answered it.
Why would someone who was the victim of the arbitrary (mis)use of power be interested in the arbitrary (mis)use of power KB?
’tis truly a riddle, a veritable gordian knot of puzzlement.
Carlos,
Please give a little credit where it is due.
Taking information that was provided to you in comments and working them into a story is fine.
But deleting the post that held those comments and then not giving credit to the person that made that comment is a little disingenuous. ( I tried to find my original comments to link to a friend only to find them missing, even one you responded to).
I made a series of comments providing some background on Kurt, including the information that you used in this article (“On September 17, two months before he got a man fired for writing the word pussy on his blog, Greenbaum posted the above video titled “Yes, bloggers, we can laugh at ourselves” with the following warning:
“Some language isn’t for little ears.””). You responded to this comment and agreed with me. Where are those comments? I cannot seem to find them anywhere in your archives.
It gives the appearance that you yourself found the information when you did not.
The whole topic is largely a discussion of journalistic integrity. See my point?
What the fuck are you talking about? I didn’t delete your comment.
I posted 4-5 comments in a row, including a link to the video you discuss in the above article.
They were all in the same article’s comments section. I do not remember the title of the article, but I have searched all of your posts discussing Kurt Greenbaum and none of those comments are present in any of the articles.
I’m not saying you deleted my posts, but rather the entire article (and thus my comments with it).
I am more then willing to pony up an apology providing you can direct me to those comments I posted.
I was simply trying to direct a friend to those comments (he was curious and I could not remember everything I stated in them, so I decided to just send him a link) and failed entirely because I cannot seem to find them.
Maybe you can direct me to them?
yea You posted them in another thread
so i am sorry but i see them all so get off CM’s ass
I am not at home now. Writing from iPhone. The only comments I deleted were a couple from “Kurt greenbum” for reasons I stated. Your comments are still here. The reason I don’t personally acknowledge everybody who point out news tips is because sometimes I can get up to ten emails giving me the same scoop.
In this case, others were emailing me the same video
ALL BE DAMNED:
Can you provide a link to them, or more specifically, the original story?
I am still trying to get a link to my friend.

There you go foot that should take you to the thread
Carlos,
Thank you. I apologize profusely.
I blame myself now. No idea why I couldn’t find that article after looking for half an hour.
Again, sorry. Your journalistic integrity remains intact.
Might I make a suggestion? (Wouldn’t be surprised if you told me to fuck off at this point–I kind of deserve it)
You might want to include something along the lines of … “Many readers have written in to point out that…etc. etc.” in your articles.
Giving credit where credit is due fosters a sense of participation and, at the very least, covers YOUR ass if the information turns out to be incorrect. (Hopefully it isn’t, but one can only do so much to verify leads…).
Personally, I don’t care if I am given credit–I did not expect it seeing as I was providing the information in the comments rather then submitting it in a more traditional fashion, but considering the fact that this whole subject is primarily about journalistic integrity it might not be a bad idea to dot the “i’s” and cross the “t’s”.
And again, sorry.
I think my choice of a User Name was maybe a little too prophetic.
I seem to be suffering from said disease.
Youtube, or the original posters, appear to have made the video private. Kinda silly really, it must have been downloaded ten thousand times already.
If anyone does come across the downloaded version then this program
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
will play Flash Video (.flv) and this one
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
will either play .flv or convert it to just about any other video format, such as .avi or .wmv, suitable for hosting on a website.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the video was uploaded as a torrent somewhere as well.
The video is hosted at http://www.kurtgreenbaumisapussy.com/video/I_Got_a_Blog.WMV
I know 1 person that has canceled their print subscription to post dispatch because of Kurt Greenbaum. I will no longer read the online edition. I think this is a signal that its time for post dispatch to go the way of the dinosaur. There are many newspapers out there that have gone away that were much better than post dispatch- there is no reason to keep it around.
We dont want our news sources contacting our employers about content we are viewing or comments we are making.
Kurt is an asshat of epic proportions. Will he get fired? Who knows.
@Jake. Again, just for the record, plenty of general swearing, but they’re also using the phrase “donut bag” rather than the homophobic slang you’re claiming.
