As I mentioned in a previous post, the trio of judges who will review my appeal decided that I needed to get the entire trial transcribed as opposed to only getting those portions that pertain to my argument.
I knew this would be about $2500 because last time it was more than $30000 and I ended up paying $500 for the portions of the transcripts that pertain to my article.
Well the company that does this agreed to do it for $2,000, which is a significant discount. The guys at Absololute Video have been on my side from the beginning. They are all amatuer photographers so they frequent this site.
Transcribing pages is not easy work. Especially when there are so many pages.
I am very thankful to them as well as to those readers who have sent donations. I plan to send each and every one of you a personal response. I’ve just been a little busy digging for evidence against a certain trigger-happy cop. If only half of what I’ve been told on him is true, then he is screwed.
Your donations will make a big difference once I pay the $2,000.

Is this cop one of the ones from your attack, or unrelated?
Care to share a bigger teaser? Trigger happy cops who are ’screwed’ seem only to be that way because he shot someone important, or was careless and did it while in a camera’s veiwfinder and let it get away.
Carlos: what exactly is involved in a transcription? is it just translating the clerk’s shorthand into regular english? wouldn’t it be cheaper to hire a clerk and have them read from the full transcript?
Something reeks of BS about the whole making you give the courts money to review your case.
You know, isn’t the entire legal process in this country technically supposed to be free? You know, the whole idea that someone can defend himself even if he is poor or something?
Not that I’m saying your poor, Carlos, but this really does seem like crap.
Catinthewall,
The way I see it in the case of the Miami Beach cop, that could have been me who was shot. I can easily find myself walking down Washington Avenue at 4 a.m. and get stopped by a group of officers because they think I fit some description or another.
Genewitch,
There was no actual court reporter at the trial. It was just tape recorded. So I have to go through the company that is certified to make it official.
I bought the CD recording of the trial long ago, so I could easily transcribe it myself or hire some college kid to do it for much cheaper, but it would not be officially certified by the court.
Scott,
If you are not well off, the system works against you. Despite the fact that the system provides public defenders for people who are indigent.
I’m not indigent in the eyes of the court. I am fortunate to have assets as well as an income.
But I am far from well-off and, in fact, I am in debt because of this case. I even had to give up my credit cards because I used them all up and I was unable to pay the monthly fees.
I had to join a credit repair program, which allows me to pay my credit cards off in one monthly payment.
Justice is not cheap but I have no regrets.
I really don’t think this is anything the judges are doing to purposely screw me over. Perhaps they just want to be thorough.
The prosecutor argued that my appeal should be thrown out because I did not include the whole transcript.
I countered that I should be able to submit just the portions that pertain to my appeal or, if not, be given the opportunity to supplement the record, which is stated in a law.
So now that I am supplementing the record, it reduces the prosecutor’s arguments by one. Now he has to rely on the other lame arguments he made. I can’t even recall what they are right now but they are here.

American Justice: Even if you “win” you loose. Think any of the bureaucrats that have targeted you are in debt for it?
