Video vigilante Jimmy Justice was filming an off-duty NYPD officer who had parked illegally in front of a fire hydrant while shopping with his family when the cop shoved him and attempted to grab his camera.
The officer then claimed that he did not shove him by saying, “I didn’t touch you, I just put my hand in the air and you ran into my hand.”
Right. Just as so many police abuse victims received their injuries by “falling down.”
The officer had placed his placard, # 5470085, on the dashboard of his car to let other officers know not to write him a ticket for parking illegally. The placard stated that he was from the Brooklyn North Narcotics Division in the 83rd Precinct, which was 12 miles away from the incident.
When the officer approached Jimmy Justice, his female passenger can be seen removing the placard from the dash.
The cop then got into his vehicle and made an illegal U-turn into oncoming traffic.

You neglected to mention the black men and youths who died after beatings, and who were said to have died from “sickle-cell anemia”. Even the unconscious kid that they stomped to death on video. That was guards as opposed to police, but it’s the same principle. Or the people who were choked to death, and who were said to have died because they had “abnormal trachea”. Part of the tribal structure that I’ve mentioned previously is that things like this are always the victim’s fault.

The cop says “I can do whatever I want” when jimmy says “you cant touch me” after the cop pushes him.

Jimmy Justice is such a whiny douchebag, and might be a wanna cop or journalist that just didn’t make it, or just an attention seeker.
Why did he aggressively and unnecessarily shove the vid camera in the cop’s face? When the cop was passenger side and didn’t notice the camera, JimmyJagoff marched to the front to make sure his feet stamping would be noticed. He was trying to egg on the cop, and the cop actually hit him, start crying foul.
If anyone was videotaping me and my family when I’m out running errands on a nice sunday, I would be pretty pissed.
For some real video vigilante justice, look at the video of the G20 protester and the so called heart attack. That was real police abuse worth filming, not this family guy parking at a hydrant for god forbid ten minutes.

And if there would have been a fire in that area, the officer would have been in whole lot of trouble for blocking the hydrant.

And even then, the law does not permit parking there for ten minutes.
Police are not above the law. Keep repeating that to yourself. Police are not above the law.
I hope this cop not only gets disciplined for parking illegally, I hope he gets sued for assault.
It’s citizens like JJ who are holding cops to accountability.
While you might not think it’s a big deal if a cop parks illegally, you need to ask yourself what other illegal behavior this cop feels he is entitled to commit because he happens to be a cop?
People seem to forget that we fund these cops. So we have every right to hold them accountable.

Would have served him right if there was a fire in the area. If they needed to get access to the hydrant the NY Fire Department would have busted the windows of his car and ran hoses right through it.
Actually in NYC there is a condition under which someone can legally park at a hydrant – someone has to remain in the vehicle with the ability to move it at a moments notice should the Fire Dept need access to the hydrant.
Part of the problem that gave rise to people like Jimmy Justice is the fact that NYC has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards drivers. Cops and traffic enforcement agents literally sit in ambush waiting for the second meters expire or alternate side parking rules take effect, or do not even give drivers a chance to drop off or pick up passengers at bus stops even though stopping for that reason is permitted by law, etc. Many people have now turned the table and look for errors that law enforcers make. Sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander!

You are apparently an elderly person. That, or perhaps you were a reader when you were young. This proverb frequently crosses my mind, and I’ve thought about using in these forums, but I rarely encounter it these days. It’s the sort of thing that a grandparent might say.

wasnt there a case where a video vigilantee caught a cop parked infront of a fire plug and there WAS a fire? they are there for a reason, and that reason isnt to be blocked by rent-a-cops

For the guy who called Jimmy Justice a loser, you are probably the cop that hit him. How else would you know it was for 10 minutes? If everyone is to be held accountable for their actions, then cops are supposed to be examples for others and they are not above the law that they enforce, and should be held accountable for what they do. Jimmy, i hope you video all the bad stuff they do and publish it every day. Bring it all out in the open.

i remember this one, the century 21 incident.
There is a public low cost city/municipal parking garage half a block away at 5th ave and 86th street
maybe like $6 for 8 hours, its 5 stories and always has space even during xmas time shopping and weekends!!!
this cop abused his parking placard and parked in the midblock crosswalk and in front of a hydrant
