Judging by Sunday’s King Mango Strut Parade, you would think we had no scandals in Miami this year. After all, there were hardly any acts mocking local news events or politicians during this year’s satirical parade.

But we all know Miami had its usual share of scandals. It’s just that this year, national events overshadowed our local events. For once.

Acts parodying the crippling economy, Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, not to mention celebrating President Bush’s departure from office, dominated this year’s parade.

You have to check out the Shoe-Throwing at Bush skit on my video.

But the Mango Strut kept its local flavor and tongue-in-cheek style by giving the honor of Grand Marshall to Mr. Clucky, the rooster who has been photographed in South Beach more times than Justin Timberlake. As usual, Mr. Clucky was riding on Mark Buckley’s handlebars.

On another note, it’s hard to believe this is the second time I’ve blogged about this parade. I guess I’m no longer a rookie blogger.

Update: Check out ViceQueenMaria’s videos and interviews from the parade.
