You don't even need a High School diploma, a GED will do nicely. If you want to aim higher, such as real organized crime, join the FBI or CIA. Police are the ones with issues that they attempt to resolve by throwing around their weight. Detectives work for a living. It sounds like the Vietnam war, where the judge of how well America was doing in the war was to make a body count.
