In the absents of a Federal Shield Law we must go back to the legal definition of a journalist - Anyone able to show that at anytime in their past they have been published by a publication with a paid base of subscription qualifies! Using simple math it seems that 800 arrest of this ilk could trigger at least half that many civil actions (or 400 plaintiff's) that on the short end of the spectrum could add up to well over $100 million in awards alone.
