One week after a video from a jailhouse surveillance camera showed a Hillsborough County Jail guard dumping a quadriplegic man from his wheelchair, two more videos have surfaced from the same jail, revealing extremely aggressive behavior from jail guards towards female inmates.
In the first video, Marcella Pourmoghani had to be transported to a hospital from the jail on a stretcher after she was severely beaten by a female deputy.
In the second video, Charlana Irving ended up with a broken arm after a male deputy grabbed her from her cell and slammed her against a glass, twisting her arm behind her.
And now a fourth inmate, Tammy Lynn Mojica has come forward, accusing Charlette Marshall-Jones - who dumped the quadriplegic man from his wheelchair - of abusive behavior.

Abuse and violence towards inmates in most US prisons and jails is quite rampant. Human rights organizations point out those cases regularly in their reports, which are generally ignored by the media.
After the reported abuse in US prisons overseas (such as in Iraq and Afghanistan), some reporters asked some honest questions and wondered how rampant this behavior was. One excellent TV documentary was made, but seen only in the UK. It provided several cases of prison abuse caught on video. You can view it here:

US jails and prisons are certainly hell-holes, but this character of abuse only creates an environment where men and women usually leave worse off than before.

The police are getting more and more abusive. Must be remnants of the Bush administration.
What’s more concerning is the total hands-off attitude from anyone in authority.
A total disregard for our rights.

Has anyone noticed the effect of ‘tough on crime’ has had on our society?
How is it that law enforcement feels justified to break bones and torture?
I is evident that we have lost rights, and that includes human rights as well.
Police and prison guards would not be behaving this way if they didn’t feel it’s ok with their supervisors and co workers.
This video taped strip searches of women is another good example of the belief jailers have. That is, that you are not really human as long as you are in their custody.

Hello. My boyfriend is currently incarcerated in Lee County and almost everyday he calls me with complaints. Whether it be the officers teasing/ taunting him, threatening to take him in a cell and strip him down and beat him or refusing to give him his vegan diet which has been approved by medical, it is always something. There is a rule that states that each inmate is entitled to their vegan meal once transferred into another unit upon prior approval until a new form is approved. Getting his vegan meal is always an issue. Instead of following the rules and regulations, the officers choose to argue with him and tease him. This morning, he called me to tell me that they had again refused to give him the vegan meal and had a woman go over the loud speaker and she stated something along the lines of “get your mommy to call about your meal, little bitch”. I don’t think that is right. He ended up getting into a verbal disagreement with the officers they then continued to cuff him, mace him and then transfer him to the MLK facility. It is understandable for the officers to follow safety procedures while dealing with an inmate who will not comply but any normal person who has officers constantly stirring them up, teasing them and making things more difficult is going to stand up for them self and exchange a few words. I was wondering if you had a telephone number to someone I can speak to about this and who may be able to further conduct an investigation. I have spoken to a few different sergeants and they continue to defend the officers but do not deny that the officers taunt the inmates. I understand that the inmates are in there for punishment but officers are not supposed to make things worse for them. No one should be treated in such a horrible manner, these inmates are human beings. Thank you in advance for your response.
